When the founder, Jody Thomas was just 12 years old he went to work on a dairy farm in northern Michigan to help support his family. The perks for him was all the free milk he could drink. At the age of 16 he moved on to working for a farmer that raised beef cows. He learned many things working on these 2 farms but most of all his love for nature, animals, and how to care for them in the best way. Later in life he became a business man but always supported the local farms in his hometown by buying what he could directly from them. In 2004, him and his wife, Gerri Thomas, moved their company down to the panhandle of Florida. One of the things they missed the most was good quality beef.
In 2018, he bought some cows and had a friend offer him a piece of land to keep them on. It started out as a way he could provide good quality meat for his wife, 3 grown kids, their families, and some friends. This farm is a labor of love and was built from the ground up and turned into a strong growing herd over the past 5 years with several new calves every year. Now we want to share T&T Beef with our local community.
When it came to naming this farm it was no surprise they kept it in the family. Their other business is named after their 3 children's initials B.C.K. and T&T is no different. It stands for Thomas & Thomas. Although none of their children carry that last name anymore is a reminder of the beautifully blended family that they are which now includes 2 son-in-laws, a daughter-in-law, and 6 grandchildren.
You might be wondering why these two pages Wellness for Busy Moms and T&T Beef are linked together. We are a family that works very closely together. I am the youngest of Gerri and Jody's 3 children. I love helping families find better alternatives than what you can find in the store. I grew up always going out to our deep freezer, climbing halfway in to see what we could make for dinner. It wasn't until high school that I learned not all meat was the same and they had these weird numbers on it. It's ok to laugh at how little I knew. Looking back I do. Raising 3 of Jody and Gerri's 6 grandkids, I am so happy one of the things I can pass on to my kids will be climbing into that freezer to see what we will have for dinner.
